Place value always seems a bit of a difficult concept for children to grasp so to jazz it up a bit to fit in with our theme of Dragons for the coming term I decided to make some 'Place Value Dragons' instead of place value mats. Pin the two parts of the dragon together with a split pin to represent the decimal point then children can move their digits up and down to show multiplying or dividing, just as they would on a normal place value grid.
